Updated Contractual Requirements Related to Human Trafficking

The Florida Legislature passed a bill in the 2024 session, HB 7063, “An Act Relating to Human Trafficking” which requires FSU’s non-governmental suppliers to attest under penalty of law that they are not using coercion for labor or services. This requirement impacts all contracts executed, renewed, or extended on or after 7/1/2024.

To comply with these requirements. Procurement Services has augmented new internal procedures to ensure compliance with the new law. These include:

  1. The required Human Trafficking language will be included in FSU’s supplier on-boarding system,  Payment Works, informing suppliers of this requirement and asking them to confirm they are not using coercion for labor or services as part of the onboarding process.
  2. Procurement Services has also included language in the purchase order terms and conditions and contract documents moving forward.

Procurement Services held a townhall on August 2, 2024, from 9-10AM via Zoom to discuss the new requirements and to answer any questions. A playback recording can be viewed here and a PDF of the handout can be viewed here.
