Updated Contractual Requirements Related to Human Trafficking
The Florida Legislature passed a bill in the 2024 session, HB 7063, “An Act Relating to Human Trafficking” which requires FSU’s non-governmental suppliers to attest under penalty of law that they are not using coercion for labor or services. This requirement impacts all contracts executed, renewed, or extended on or after 7/1/2024.
To comply with these requirements. Procurement Services has augmented new internal procedures to ensure compliance with the new law. These include:
- The required Human Trafficking language will be included in FSU’s supplier on-boarding system, Payment Works, informing suppliers of this requirement and asking them to confirm they are not using coercion for labor or services as part of the onboarding process.
- Procurement Services has also included language in the purchase order terms and conditions and contract documents moving forward.
Procurement Services held a townhall on August 2, 2024, from 9-10AM via Zoom to discuss the new requirements and to answer any questions. A playback recording can be viewed here and a PDF of the handout can be viewed here.
